W. Scott Toombs
W. Scott Toombs has supervised all phases of the development process with projects totaling a value in excess of $1.5 billion. Prior to founding Merritt Capital Investors, Scott gained experience working for The Rouse Company, Cadillac-Fairview, and Toombs Development Company (TDC). He is a member of the Urban Land Institute (ULI) and has spoken in numerous presentations over the years.As president of Merritt and Toombs Development Company, Scott has been directly responsible for the development of office, hotel, residential, and retail projects. He has secured permanent and construction loans with major institutional lenders and banks, zoned and approved major projects in several states, formulated budgets and supervised construction in order to complete projects under budget and on time.
Scott received his MBA from The Wharton School of Finance in 1971 and graduated from Ursinus College, Collegeville, PA in June of 1966. After college, he served as an Officer in the United States Army. He was a company commander in The Vietnam War and was awarded the Bronze Star. He has three daughters with his wife, Kathy and splits his time between New Canaan, CT and Nantucket, MA.
